Your Why
Before jumping into the how, I think its important to discuss the “Why”. What makes you excited about becoming a DevOps Engineer. Do you enjoy solving problems? Or are you looking to get into the field soley for the money? Honestly, none of these reasons are wrong, but I would really take inventory in your why.
Fundamentals
Do a quick google search, and you’ll find hundreds of “DevOps Tutorials”. While some can be helpful, I’ve noticed one flaw with a ton of them. They don’t focus on the fundamentals. You do, however, need to have a solid grasp of topics like TLS, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, routing, firewalls, Linux permissions, processes, and basic troubleshooting.
